Decorating with wall hangings can be an effective way to create a theme in your room without breaking the bank. Especially if you are like me and you want to change up the theme periodically. Take a look at the Amy Butler fabric wall hanging that I created for my living room. What a stunning focal point! In this case, I used Amy Butler lacework brown fabric to create this piece of art.

If you love fabric but you can’t sew, making a fabric wall hanging would be a perfect project for you. Here is what you need to get started:

4 Wood Stretchers (I used 2 X 24” and 2 X 36” stretchers)
Picture Wire
Eyehooks
Staple Gun
Fabric of Choice

I personally bought my wood stretchers at Michaels and they are readily available in various sizes. The wood stretchers have corners designed to interlock so it is super easy to put together. Make sure that your fabric of choice is about 2 inches larger than the finished wood frame. This will make it easy for you to staple the fabric to the back of the frame.

I started stapling the fabric in the middle of one side working my way to the corners. I stopped stapling about 2” before the corner. Once you are done stapling one side continue the step on the opposite side. Once all four sides are nicely stretched you can start working on neatly stapling the corners.

Attached the eyehooks and picture wire as instructed and you are ready to hang up your fabric wall hanging. Let your imagination take its course as you can decorate your living room, bed room or a baby room with a fabric wall hanging. If you are using Amy Butler fabrics or any other designer fabrics, it is easy, it is fun and it is inexpensive. HAVE FUN!
