Every holiday season we spend so much money on paper gift wraps. Even worst is the fact that all the paper gift wraps are going to waste which adversely affect our environment.
Instead of paper gift wrapping, why not use fabric to wrap up your gifts this year? Fabric gift wrapping can be re-used and recycled for years to come and therefore eco-friendly. Who does not have fabric remnants at home that you don't know what to do with. In this case, we used some beautiful Marimekko fabric called Tamburiini that is perfect for the holiday season. Make sure to get yourself some of this luxurious sateen cotton fabric while it is 52% off.
Part I: 1. Cut a 10" X 10" piece of fabric. 2. Fold fabric in half with the RIGHT side of the fabric together. 3. Stitch all around leaving an opening of approximately 2". 4. Turn the fabric RIGHT side out. 5. Topstitch all around about 1/4" from the edge.
Part II: 6. Cut some fabric strips on the bias of the fabric.
7. To join the fabric strips into one long piece, lay the strips perpendicular to each other with the RIGHT sides together. 8. Stitch across the diagonal edge with a 1/4" seam. 9. Trim any small "tails" of fabric at the seam of the bias binding.
10. Repeat until you have joined all the fabric strips. 11. Once you have joined all fabric strips into one long strip, fold the fabric in half with RIGHT side together and stitch a 1/4" seam. 12. Attached a safety pin at the end of the fabric strip.
13. Use the safety pin to turn the sewn fabric strip inside out. 14. Once you are done with Part I and Part II of this fun project, you can start to wrap your bottle of wine. 15. Use the fabric piece from Part I and put around the wine bottle. 16. Now use the long fabric strip from Part II and wrap several times around the wine bottle and finish off with a big bow. Giving someone a wine bottle wrapped in this luxurious red and gold Marimekko Fabric will make anyone happy. by: Imagine Fabric |
