Working with Moda Quilt Squares provides you with a collection of designs and colors that have been properly coordinated by professional designers and design studios. I am always inspired for my next quilt project looking at the beautiful Moda Quilt Squares collection as they often include designs and colors that I never thought of combining.
Today, I am picking the following three Moda Quilt Square Collections as my pick of the week as they are not only gorgeous and beautiful but they are also on SALE at a discounted price of 34%. Moda Summer's Basket of Flowers by Terry Thompson: Picket fences and country flowers grow wild in this summer garden. With an air of country simplicity in shades of earth and sky this group begs to be watered by the creative spirit. To view all fabrics of the Moda Summer's Basket of Flowers, view the product swatch pages. Moda Ruby's Flower Garden by Kathy Schmitz: Kathy Schmitz designed this group in honor of her grandmother, Ruby, and her legendary green thumb. Here Kathy creates baskets brimming with the flowers her grandmother most loved. The colors woven through each piece embody vibrant summer days full of life and activity in the open country. All fabric designs of Ruby's Flower Garden are featured in the Moda swatch pages. Moda Crayon Forest by Sentimental Studios: This collection of fall leaves and loose geometrics are the perfect testament to going back to the basics. Crayon Forest combines an artisans skills with the drawing tools typically found in a nursery school playroom. This juxtaposition creates layers of intesity that are both elegant and free spirited. Today I am providing you with step by step instructions on how to sew a leaf patterned placemat that is super easy and super fun to make and the results will bring instant elegance and flair to your everyday dining experience. All you need is some beautiful fabric and a sewing machine with zigzag stitch.
I am using a gorgeous Kaffe Fassett fabric design today that is called Potentilla and the floral pattern of this fabric is just perfect. But you can use any gorgeous floral or leaf patterned fabric and the result will be just stunning. This simple leaf shape is from Martha Stewart's website. To start your project, print out Martha Stewart's free leaf pattern. Cut out the 4 parts of the pattern and attach them following the pattern instructions to form a leaf shape. ![]() Lay out your fabric of choice and trace the leaf shape using your pattern. I put two layers of fabric on top of each other and cut my fabric following my pencil tracing. Repeating this step with an interfacing fabric - you will need two interfacing pieces in the leaf shape. That will give your final placemat a good solid thickness. Once you have cut out your interfacing fabric, iron each interfacing piece to your fabric of choice. You will end up with two leaf shaped interfaced fabric pieces as featured here: ![]() Now place the two fabric pieces left side together. Using a pretty zigzag stitch, sew all around the edges. Tip: using a contrasting thread color can enhance the look of your placemat immediately. Once you have zigzag stitch all around, you are already done! ![]() With this project being super easy, you can have a new set of placemats done within the hour. This can be an easy and very affordable project for seasonal decorating and they make great gifts as well. ![]() If you are using your placemat outdoors on the patio table, for example, use waterproof fabric to ensure that you'll get to enjoy your placemats as long as possible. ![]() Other fabric designs that I think are perfect for this placemat project for the upcoming Easter Season are: Tree Peony Sage, Lotus Pond Yellow or Fresh Poppies Green. All of these fabric designs are from Amy Butler. Another favorite of mine for this project would be Bird Seed Yellow by Alexander Henry. As you can see, there are endless fabric choices that would be great for this placemat project. Have fun making your placemats!!! by: Imagine Fabric 0 Comments
