If you are working on your next tote, wristlet or a wine bottle bag as a hostess gift, you will need to sew a strap.  Here are step by step instructions on how to sew a strap.  These instructions can be used to sew a draw string as well.  You may need to knot the end or finish off the ends to complete the drawstring.  But otherwise, same step by step instructions will apply. 

If your finished strap is supposed to be 1 inch wide, your fabric needs to be four times as wide.  So for an 1 inch finish strap width, your fabric needs to be 4 inches wide to start out with. 

1. Fold the fabric in half length wise with the WRONG side together and iron a crease along the fold.

2. Open up your fabric and fold each long edge in to meet the center crease and iron. 

Voila, your strap is done.  Feel free to leave
